A new race by STGamerNew2002 called Ferengi Scavengers. Stealing, Trading and using other race's technology is the name of the game here, all weapons in this mod are known weapons from other races in

FERENGI SCAVENGERS Mod by STGamerNew2002(original idea by WarBorg)


DESCRIPTION:

This is my version of the Ferengi race called "FERENGI SCAVENGERS". Based on the original
mod by WarBorg, they have the almost same story premesis of STEALING, SELLING and/or using
other races's TECHNOLOGY for their GAIN of POWER and DESTRUCTION. I've just made the mod
abit different/PLAYABLE now. All weapons in this mod are known weapons from other races in
the game, but in different color effects.

Again, thanks for downloading my mod and continue to enjoy it!


INSTALLATION(2 TYPES OF INSTALLATION CHOICES):

First Type Installation(for the Newbies):
This is a zipped files program and should be EXTRACTED first into a SEPERATE folder,
then place those folders into your Star Trek Main directory in this way:

C:\Program Files\Activision\Star Trek Armada II


1. Place any .SOD files into the 'SOD' directory.

2. Place any .tga files into the 'Textures' directory.

3. Place gui_ferengi.spr, gui_global.spr & weapons.spr file into the 'Sprites' directory.

4. All odf folders into the 'odf' folder directory.

5. Place misc folder into the 'misc' directory.

6. Place sounds folder into the 'sounds' directory.

7. Place bitmaps folder into 'bitmaps' directory.

8. Place these files into your MAIN Directory: event.dat(*), ART_CFG(*) & RTS_CFG(*)

9. Place the Ai/AIPs folder into your 'Ai/AIPs' directory.


Second Type Installation(for ANY EXPERTS OF MODDING):
*This is for EDITING of certain files and to not altenate ANY OF your PERSONAL/MODIFIED FILES
settings*:

This is for the EXPERTS of Modding/Editing that DON'T want their own personal/modified altered,
but if you feel CONFIDENT enough in doing this yourself, NEWBIES, then I say CONGRADS to making
the EFFORT in doing so. I hope that my instructions here will make this editing MUCH EASY and
Understandable in the BEST WAY I can describe it. What's listed here are 5 setions of editing
menus. This will be more of a 'Select, Copy & Paste' editing. Each one will represent a
specific file(s):

Ferengi Events(events.dat file)
Ferengi Gui-Global(gui_global.spr file)
Ferengi Techtree(tech1.tt file)
Ferengi Weapons(weapons.spr file)


For the 'events.dat' file: open the Ferengi Scavengers file 'Ferengi Events', Select, Copy & Paste.

For the 'gui_global.spr' file: open the Ferengi Scavengers file 'Ferengi Gui-Global', Select, Copy & Paste.

For the 'tech1.tt' file: open the Ferengi Scavengers file 'Ferengi Techtree', Select, Copy & Paste.

For the 'weapons.spr' file: open the Ferengi Scavengers file 'Ferengi Weapons', Select, Copy & Paste.


***IMPORTANT NOTE: make sure the files goes in the right area EXACTLY as it reads or IT WILL NOT
WORK/CRASH! Also, when you START TO go into the window selection of the game's races, MAKE
SURE YOU TURN OFF THE 'FERENGI SCAVENGER' SELECTION ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE WINDOW CHOICES!
THE GAME'S FERENGI SCAVENGER SHIP WILL NOT WORK!!!!***


DISCLAIMERS

Some files may be OVERWRITTEN like; events.dat, weapons.spr, gui_global.spr & tech1.tt files
that you may already edited/modified, so back up your files! If you're a EXPERT in editing
files and don't want your personalized files changed, then I suggest to back-up your
personilzed modified files and do what you know best in EDITING.

Ok boys and girls I finally figured out the mystery of the Ferengi. It doesnt say this in the readme but you NEED to have the Dominion Ultimate 1.0 (exe version) and the Dominion Ultimate 1.2 (The Breen) installed. (i noticed that in the Techtree files that are provided in the patch that the Dominion and Breen are present. Thats what gave me the idea to try it this way. as before i was doing just clean installs, then Ferengi.


I did a clean install of Armada 2 to an alternate directory for testing.


Installed the Armada2 Update Patch


Installed Dominion Ultimate 1.0 (exe version)


Installed Dominion Ultimate 1.2 (The Breen)


Installed the Ferengi Scavengers


Installed the Ferengi Scavengers Correction Patch.


Bingo, it worked :-) On a real crappy P3-700 system with an 8mb Matrox G200 video card (my work computer)


Note: The Ferengi Scavengers Zip file is messed up. some of the files end up in the root directory of the patch where the install readme file is. They are a few .AIP files. a few .TGA's a .SOD and a .ODF The extensions of these files should be enough to tell you where to put them but just in case.


The AIP's go in AIAIPs


The .SOD in the SOD


and the .ODF in ODFStations


I figure i explained it simple enough, if you follow these instructions to the letter you shouldnt have any problems. If you do. Post up and i'll be glad to help.

There wasnt a SOD in the root of the patch directory, just the TGA's, AIP's and an ODF. I was thinking about the correction patch.

This mod has nothing to do with the 'Dominion'. It's a seperate race mod, so there is no need to have the Dominion to play this race mod. Just this and the Update patch for the Ferengi Scavengers. :P

It want work :mad: tried several ways after following your directions and then i get the BLACK BOX OF DEATH. each time your files are all scattered around if you have scavenger then you may need to place 2 types of installs notes 1 folder containing all the nessacery files in it for peeps to copy whole folder and paste it in the main directory as wel as the other for whatever mod the are using. if confused sorry .

im not so sure if these are separate, the ferengi main base is the dominion trade center(not meant as critiscism, after all they really are scavengers) so you might stil need it.

It would be really good to see this in an .EXE like the dominion mod, as there seems to be alot of confusion in installing it!
