Avenger and Enterprise E Avenger and Enterprise E

This mod allows the Enterprise E and the USS Avenger to be constructed.

This mod is the result of simply failing to find what I wanted: a mod which allowed me to build the USS Avenger,
(Worf's Defiant) and the USS Enterprise-E (Picard's Sovereign), in Armada II Instant Action or Multiplayer.
Basically this mod allows you to build the Avenger and/or the Enterprise in the Shipyard/Advanced Shipyard
(respectively) like any other Federation ship. Of course, this also provides you the option of building multiple
Avenger's or Enterprise's all sporting Worf's charming dialogue and Picard's refined phrases but who really needs
more than one of each? I'll leave that to you.

Unfortunately, since the Avenger and its sound files were not carried over from Armada to Armada 2 this required
more work than I had thought it would (my apologies for all the files). However, I am satisfied that it should
fit the bill for those looking for a mod which provides as close an equivalent to the Avenger from Armada as is
possible with the exception that the Avenger's abilities have been increased equivalent to the Defiant class it is
a member of in Armada II. For instance, I have outfitted it with four pulse cannons as opposed to the original
Armada's two as the Defiant class is outfitted with four in Armada II. I also chose to modify the Avenger's pulse
cannons just slightly. Where others have chosen to give it the station pulse cannons or perhaps the turret pulse
cannons I felt these were too powerful for ship mount and might unbalance the game (like the possibility of
building 20 Avenger's would not huh?). However, to account for the hero status which should be afforded the Avenger
I increased the range, accuracy, and fire rate of the standard pulse cannons the Avenger sports (with Worf's
tactical savvy the Avenger should hit a lot of what it fires at anyway, right?). I have also included the
cloaking device, gravity mines (oddly they included the Avenger's cloak and gravity mines in special weapons but
then left out the Avenger) and quantum torpedoes (I outfitted the Avenger with torpedoes equivalent to the Intrepid
Class). Worf's ship is quite formidable but not rediculous.

As for the Enterprise, it was much easier to provide as all that was required was a few simple modifications to the
odf files and such to make it accessible since it already exists as a hero ship in Armada II. Please note that for
both ships I have required that you advance to the maximum technological progression for each of the Shipyards
before you can build it. For instance you cannot build Sovereign class vessels until you have completed the Vulcan
Research Institute and so you cannot build the Enterprise-E until that time either. Further, although you can build
a Defiant Class vessel with just a Shipyard I thought the Avenger advanced enough to require that you build a
Research Facility and Science Station before you can build it. Of course this can all be easily modified and if you
would prefer to start the game with these vessels in Instant Action or Multiplayer instead of that Scout and not be
able to build more that mod is on the way too.

I have provided below the address where the file names will need to be placed with the names of the files to be
placed underneath (see Files Only folder). Alternatively, I have also desinged the folder hierachy of the files to
mirror the Armada II organization so you can chose to use the directions below or simply walk through the folders
installing the files in the folder in which they appear (see Arranged Folders folder):

XP Address: C:\Program Files\Activision\Star Trek Armada II
File: events.DAT

Remember. I have tried to cling to the original specifications including cost and build-time from Armada (Avenger)
and Armada II (Enterprise-E) and have also made little if any modifications to the ship abilities (well, save that
in Armada Worf's Avenger never had quantum torpedoes and its pulse cannons are a touch better). I plan to add some
options to the Enterprise in future such as a tractor beam and an engineering team but have not quite gotten around
to that (I think both will make the Enterprise truer to its abilities in the series/movies).

As with all mods, THIS MATERIAL IS NOT MADE OR SUPPORTED BY ACTIVISION. Further, I take no responsibility for any
adverse effects that the installation of these files may have on your game or your computer. Use them at your own
risk! I also provide no warranty or support although you are free to notify me regarding bugs or problems
you may experience. I would suggest that you make a copy of all the specified files which you will be replacing
in order so that you may restore those files should you dislike the result of installation.

Regarding using these files in other mods I require only that you give credit where credit is due for their use. In
other words, you are free to use any or all of the modified files I have provided in your own mod as long as you
give me credit for the file, i.e. mwcarlson.

Finally, a shout out to Sam Critchley who is a hell of a human being and provided me with advice and pointed me in
the right direction a few times as I learned how to mod. In the spirit of such excellence I am happy to provide
whatever assistance I can to those of you interested in making a basic mod (no SOD's and such as I haven't a clue
about anything outside of the basics at present). I can be contacted at mwcarlson at hotmail.com. Enjoy and good
modding, Matt.

I am puzzled as to why a simple mod to build two hero ships is 1.05 MB?

That's why I'm not gonna download it

Read it again!!

"...the Avenger and its sound files were not carried over from Armada to Armada 2.."

Whee!!! Im mentioned in there :D

Nice work Matt. I can help you put the engineering team and tractor beam on the Enterprise if you want as well. Or you can self teach yourself with my USS Da Vinci mod

My first mod, I am so proud of the little tyke. Ok, so its not all that impressive and with the installation options I provided it is a bit big (the files are actually duplicated in either a files only folder or a folder duplicating the Armada II directory. I note all this in the readme. I did this for those more and less familiar with installing mods, as the case may be. I am already completed with an Enterprise with an Engineering Team and Tractor Beam and an Avenger with a Tractor Beam and will be submitting these shortly.
