Archer Class Archer Class

This is an 8000+ poly model with 2048x2048 textures for armada 2. It is a redesign of the NX-01 Class Cruiser. It has Akira Class weapons (as can be seen in the ODF), Phaser cannons, and donut.

Hio

This is the new Archer Class ship for the feds. It's a modern TNG update to the initial NX design. It's too good a design to not bring back to the TNG era. The ship was only ever called NX, so I'm aptly renaming the TNG version "THE ARCHER".

I've included this readme, and several jpeg format pics, as well as the model, textures, and the odf itself.

Just drop the .SOD in the sod folder, ODF in the ships folder in the ODF folder, and the Textures in the rgb folder in textures.

This is a 8000+ poly model, so it's a bit hi poly, and the textures are 2048x2048, so they are relatively hi res. Granted this is a 2001 game, but by now you all should have computers able to handle a few of these ships in your fleet. furthermore, the a2 engine was used for the xbox360 ST Legacy, so we know the game can handle it. It is a very highly detailed ship.

Right now, its as though as an Akira class, ODF wise, but feel free to edit that. I will eb releasing this on BC files and Legacy files, as well as a few kitbashes just for fun.

note:
If you are going to enter this into a package mod, please just give credit, and a heads up to me so I can play the mod.

only problem is the high poly and textures. my laptop would struggle fielding a few of these and its an upto date system maybe if you reduced the textures to 1024X1024 that wouldnt cause much loss in details esp in normal armada camera distance 512X512 wouldnt even make that much difference in detail at normal distance.

Anyway its anice ship well done

Word to the wise from someone who has been modding RTS games for almost 10 years. Don't use high poly models. RTS games are not in the same genre as the likes of BC and Legacy simply because they have massed produced ships. Also using ultra high resolution textures is a waste due to the necessity to mass produce units. I would say that this, like ANY of the other high poly models that have been made for Armada would cause severe lag during such times as heavy combat (which is nearly always encountered, even in the stock game).

That being said, with regards to the model itself and textures. They are of significant quality so whilst this isn't suited to armada it will be pleasing to see this for SFC3, BC or Legacy (perhaps if the possibility exists for STO as well). So if I was to just take this into account I say a big 10/10.

map- i already know this. no need to state what is crystal clear- that this is an rts game. im not a noob. its a model. be happy. i just exported it to a2 because i love this game and wanted to contribute to keeping it alive, even with high end details like poly and textures.

also, today ive uploaded 512 textures. im on the bar.

I never said you were a "noob", but you need to realise that when you make public releases those who see it won't all give praise. You have to expect negative criticisms as well, and besides, theres plenty of people who don't realise these facts. Happy?? I would be far happier to see a low poly model with the same quality. This would actually struggle in Empire At War at that games only a few years old with a far better and up-to-date game engine.

BTW. You should never assume that everyone who owns Armada 1/2 actually has a high spec pc (as demonstrated by apoclaydon laptop comment). Also Legacy doesn't share as much of Armada/'s coding as you might first realise.

Finally, and as a suggestion, why not rebuild this as a lower poly model?? In Armada's engine you won't notice much in the way of difference but the lag would be sufficiently reduced to allow for mass production (and when I say mass production I don't mean hundreds of these ships).
