There are some very fine TOS Starfleet mods available here at A2Files. Unfortunately, these Starfleet vessels have been forced to sit idle because they had few proper adversaries. Until now. This mod allows you to install as map units the two principal opponents faced by Kirk s Enterprise in TOS. The Klingon D-7 battlecruiser and the Romulan Warbird. They are complete with everything needed to install them fully into your A2 game. This is one of the few times I have done ships and is the first time I have ever ported something over from another game format to A2. After some serious file-trawling, I feel the orginal Bridge Commander mods these are based on represent the best examples of the D-7 Battlecruiser and the Vas-Hatham class. The orginal creators of both mods captured the spirit of these ships perfectly. StarFox1701 s TOS weapons enhance these vessels spectacularly and allows for the most accurate re creation of both ships available for Armada 2 to date.

Cool

INTRODUCTION

Hello, and thank you for downloading this. It is my honor and privilege to share this with the A2 Community.

CREDITS Everyone you need to know about so you know whom to praise for such fine vessels!

For the D-7 battlecruiser:

Here are the modders over on BCFiles whom first made this ship as part of the Klingon D-Pack Mod. I have included all of their names from the original ReadMe because it was obviously a group effort and all of them should be recognized for their fine work. Without their efforts, I could not have done this at all. I have also included a copy of the Readme from that mod as a part of this so due credit will be given.
Model/Textures by Jeff Wallace
Model/Textures by ATRA-HASIS
Some mesh components borrowed from Moonraker's Ktinga model.
Model/Textures by WickedZombie45
Script for the Romulan Torpedo by edtheborg
Conversions/hardpoints/sounds by Zambie Zan
For the TOS Romulan Warbird:

Here are the modders over on BCFiles whom first made this ship. I have included all of their names from the original ReadMe because it was obviously a group effort and all of them should be recognized for their fine work. Without their efforts, I could not have done this at all. I have also included a copy of the Readme from that mod as a part of this so due credit will be given.

Gene Roddenberry - for giving us such a cool place to play.
Chiletrek - for never being so busy he cannot answer a question or ten. Also for being an outstanding role model to follow.
Starfox1701 - for introducing me to the mysteries of MS3D. I owe you a beer, Bro! And also for the very cool TOS weapons pack he sent me gratis. This mod would be much poorer in quality without it.
thunderfoot006 - for porting the model, texture adjustments, lightmapping(alphas), hardpointing, ODFs, AdmiralsLog pic, build button, wireframe, installation instructions, packaging, playtesting and anything else needed to bring this to A2.
YOU, for downloading this mod.

WHAT THIS MOD IS

A patch which contains everything needed to install the Star Trek TOS Klingon D-7 battlecruiser and Romulan Warbird completely into your A2 game. These ships have been balanced against FahreS' TOS ships. They are very weak against nearly everything else both stock and available here.

//***********************************************
WHAT THIS MOD IS NOT

Tested for compatability with either FLOPs or PP 1.2.5. My laptop cannot play FLOPs so I saw no sense in trying to test this patch with these. I cannot answer ANY questions concerning this patch and FLOPs or PP 1.2.5 because I cannot use them together. I make mods for ST:A2 with the 1.1 Patch applied because I think this version of the game is still played or modded most often. If you want to try this patch with FLOPs or PP1.2.5 you do so with the prior understanding that I cannot help you with, nor be held accountable or responsible for, any problems which arise from combining or using this patch with either of them.

There are no Borg textures. Why? The Collective would consider these ships and weapons too antiquated to adapt, improve, or add to their already impressive collection of technology.
They would immediately recycle all of this for the component resources the ships contain. If you want Borg textures anyway, you ll have to make them yourself.

If the above statements mean you will now refuse to install this mod, I am okay with this. I made this mod for me in the first place.

//***********************************************
POTENTIAL PROBLEMS

This patch has not been tested for compatability with either PP1.2.5 or FLOPs. My laptop cannot play FLOPs so I saw little sense in checking this. I have Yacuzza s Tactical Assault and Achilles Art of War installed. I have nt yet run across any problems with either of these but I did not really push either install to the limits of the game engine either.

This patch has been tested only within the SP Campaign and Instant Action vs. my laptop. I do not know if it will work in online Multiplayer. I accept no responsibility for your computer, disc, or application. This patch was checked for viruses and completeness before upload. If it does not work correctly the first time, please go back and read the Installation Instructions. Then, install the mod again AFTER you read the Installation Instructions.

RELEASE INFO:

Because this is a port of someone else s work, I cannot allow my normal policy of free useage with credit this time around. The groups who made the ships this is based on worked very hard on making them as good as they could. The models and textures are theirs and they have the right of final approval as to where their work goes. These models were imported by me and saved to MS3D format, but they STILL belong to their original creators, so they have final approval rights. The weapons textures, sound effects for them, and the associated sprite entries were made by StarFox1701. Please contact him for permission about using his work in your mod. Everything not specifically listed above was made by me, thunderfoot006. The items within the mod which are NOT specifically listed above you may consider to fall under my free useage with credit policy.

CONTACT:

Any doubts, questions or suggestions, please contact thunderfoot006 from here at A2 Files via PM.
All of the people mentioned by name herein are blameless for anything which may be wrong with this mod.
All of the mistakes are mine alone.

Compliments? Well, now! I ll respond promptly to your kind words.

Complaints? The Black Fleet and the Tal Shiar both will be right over to speak with you. Oooh. Angry Klingons with psychotically xenophobic Romulan spies as backup. That s going to leave a mark.

Bitte schon, Herr FahreS. Your TOS Connies needed some proper TOS adversaries, lol.

Just realized the file description and the ReadMe may be misleading. These can be assigned to a shipyard as regular units built by a shipyard. I included a section in the installation instructions showing how to do this. The ships can be considered map units as well because I adjusted the map editor ODFs to allow them to be placed while making a map. No sense in having the one without the other
