Mercenary Smuggler Mercenary Smuggler

I've been watching the modding career of CanadianBorg with interest-- mostly because that career has lasted about a week and seen about four mods released already. This one's a mercenary smuggler, a partial conversion from SFC with some kitbash parts included. Neat concept, hopefully one that can be developed further in future mods. This 'mercenary' could make a good replacement for your stock Ferengi scavenger, or an allied ship for some other race-- possibly the Orions? The possibilities are yours to discover.

Worth a look.

Cool

Mercenary Smuggler by CanadianBorg

This is only my fourth mod, so any advice or pointers are appreciated.

The Mercenary Smuggler I designed is based on a retextured Constitution Class converted from Starfleet Command 1 (yes, I have the original), and the rest is custom-textured kitbash of the stock ships.

This ship is intended to go with my recently released Mercenary Pack mod.

Installation:

Open the archive file and extract the folder "Mercenary Smuggler" somewhere outside your A2 directory.

Copy all the folders inside to your root A2 directory.

Now, open gui_global.spr in the "sprites" folder in your A2 main directory with Notepad, and scroll down to the Federation build buttons. Now enter:

b_mercsmug gbmercsmug 0 0 64 64

below the last item.

Close gui_global.spr and go to the techtree folder within the A2 directory with Notepad. Now open tech1.tt. Scroll down to the Federation ships and add:

mercsmug.odf 0

Now save and close tech1.tt. Open fulltech.tt with Notepad and enter the following anywhere in the list:

mercsmug.odf 0

Now save and close the file.

Now you have two options:

Option 1. Go to the odf folder, and go to "stations". Open fyard.odf with Notepad, and enter the following:

buildItemxx = "mercsmug"

Where "xx" is the next number in the list (replace it with this number). Do the same with ryard.odf, kyard.odf, and cyard.odf.

Option 2. Go to the odf folder, and go to "stations". Open mercbase.odf with notepad (if you downloaded my Mercenary Pack, you'll have it, otherwise, take option 1),
and enter the following:

buildItemxx = "mercsmug"

Where "xx" is the next number in the list (replace it with this number).

That's it! You're ready to use the Mercenary Smuggler in your game! I might be coming out with more pirate and mercenary ships by the way, so stay tuned!

anyone who played Elite Force 1's campaign should think of the scavengers in that game when they see this. for those of you who never did, the scavengers got trapped in the forge along with several other ships including voyager, and they were a ragtag group of klingons and mirror universe feds who pretty much kitbashed their ships together to make a makeshift station.

To #12: That was kinda what inspired all this pirate stuff. I have Elite Force, and it inspired all these "uglies". Good to see someone caught on.
