So Pizza the Hutt says in this ship's outline-- and he's right. This is one truly ugly looking, truly silly looking vessel. The Rigel class is, by anyone's calculation, a joke taken too far. Ex Astris Scientia describes it as follows:

"A Galaxy-class saucer, attached directly to a Constitution engineering section (no connecting dorsal). Three Galaxy-style warp nacelles; the first two are about where you'd expect, the third is attached directly below the shuttlecraft bay."

Like most three-nacelled ships, this one's strictly for the "wtf?" factor. Pizza the Hutt also included some political commentary. Just ignore it and mod over it if you don't like it.

Worth a look. Just not a long look or you might go blind.

Installation:
-------------

Copy the file frigel.sod into the SOD folder
Copy the .tga files into the Textures > RGB folder
Copy the file frigel.odf into the ODF > ships folder
Copy the file frigel.bmp into the Bitmaps > Admiralslog folder

Open the file fyard2.odf or fyard.odf (whichever shipyard you want the ship
To be built from) and insert the line: buildItemXX = "frigel" under
build Parameters below the last ship to be build
XX being the next unused number

Save that file

Open "tech 1" from the Techtree folder and insert this line:

frigel.odf 1 fyard2.odf // Rigel class

Save this file, open "fulltech.tt" and insert the following line

frigel.odf 0

Then save and open "GUI_global.spr" from the sprites folder

Then add this line under federation build buttons:

b_frigel gbfrigel 0 0 64 64



add these lines into the gui global under wireframes:

@reference=128
@tmaterial=interface

frigelw1 frigelwire 40 0 40 40
frigelw2 frigelwire 0 40 40 40
frigelw3 frigelwire 40 40 40 40
frigelw4 frigelwire 80 0 40 40

I'd love to see the 2 nacelle version as well, we could set it up as the prototype to get you the Galaxy-class in the game, then later on you use the ship upgrade button to make it this 3 naclle version and that opens the door to the Galaxy-X... dang I'd love to see a 2 nacelle version of this!

I will consider the 2 nacelle version with the upgrade option. I have a few other ships under construction right now, and I am also planning to release updates on some earlier models.

This looks somewhat like a Niagra-class upgrade. I think it looks cool. This also looks like something you would find in one of those supply depots run by the Zakdorn.

I just realized that the engineering hull is too big to be that of a constiturion class. So it must be a scaled up version that looks similar.

I think the federation class dreadnought hull is the same size as the connie hull.

Their saucers are a little different. The stardrives are identical.


The stardrive on the Rigel is definitely scaled up 150% of a Constitution class.

Yes, and I find it silly why starfleet would scale up the hull of a 100 year old ship, but I added it anyway.

eh well I've always scaled the Federation class as bigger than the Connie, so it works for me, I redid the tooltip to reflect it being a Federation-class engineering hull in my game.
