This is the Himalaya class, based on Anduril's original, who made it originally for Ex Astris Scientia. Federation (interestingly more than other races) lacks TLE ships and this one seemed ideal for filling the hole a bit...

1. DESCRIPTION
The Himalaya Class is based on the Ambassador Class. It was designed and produced in the late years of the Cardassian War. The primary goal was to make the ship more war-capable than its sister class, but the designers implemented several new ideas as well, which later became Starfleet standards. THe Himalaya Class has an auxiliary secondary deflector, hardened hull design with additional armor plating especially on the narcelles, holodecks and special configuration of bussard collectors: each collector is separated to five cells, which can work separately, even if one or more of them is malfunctioning.

2. INSTALLATION
a) Extract your files into a temporary folder.
b) Open Armada II main directory.
c) Put all the texture files into the Textures/RGB folder.
d) Put fhimalaya.odf into the odf/ships directory.
e) Put fhimalaya.sod into the sod directory.
f) Adding ship to the techtree: Open tech1.tt from the techtree directory with a simpe text editor and add the following line to the end of the file:
fhimalaya.odf 0 // Himalaya Class
g) Adding ship to the construction list: Open fyard.odf from the odf/stations directory with a simpe text editor. Add the ship to the building possibilities of the station by searching for the following line in the
file:
buildItem7 = "fcruise2"

and add the following line after it:
buildItem8 = "fhimalaya"

h) Adding buildbutton to the ship: Open gui_global.spr from the Sprites folder with a simple text editor and look for the following lines:
# Federation build buttons
@reference=128
@tmaterial=default

Now look for the following line:
@reference=64

It's not far lower. Add the following line after @reference=64, in a new line:
b_fhimalaya gbfhimalaya 0 0 64 64

i) Adding wireframe to the ship: Don't close gui_global.spr but look for the following lines:
# Federation wireframes

@reference=256

Now add the following lines before @reference=256:

@reference=128

fhimalayaw1 wffhimalaya 0 0 128 128

3. COMPATIBILITY
The ship uses only basic Armada 2 files. You don't need any additional files for playing this ship.

4. TECHNICAL NOTES
The pack also contains a buildbutton, an Admirals Log image and a wireframe, everything you need to properly play the ship.

Reminds me of the Metropolitan. Great model, it's good to see some TLE stuff. :-)

Hello:

This is cool, the Ambassador class sure need sibling classes of ships, especially for the TL Era, which lacks designs.

I am also seeing that the ship has a secondary deflector dish, is this ship a prototype for that technology? maybe it was not popular then, but it became useful for much modern designs like the Intrepid and Nova classes.

Cool ship!

She fills in the gap quite nicely, a fine addition to the fleet. ;-)

Something like Ambassador refit. I like it. Fine addition to post-dominion war fleet...
