What Smells, 2007-01-20

The snubfighter is apparently missing any weapons, apart from a cloaking device and a self destruct.

Considering that the build time is only two seconds on one of these minute fighters, and the cost of the ship is very low it would appear that this ship class is designed for suicide attacks on larger ships and stations. Given the power of the self destruct versus how many of these you can build for the cost of a single destroyer I would imagine that this could be quite painful to anybody on the receiving end of a suicide charge. I am not quite sure if this really suits the federation though, this seems more like a Klingon weapon (and even then I would have expected SOME weapons onboard apart from a bit bomb)


How to install the Snub fighter.

All odfs in Odf folder
All tga in textures/RGB folder
All SODs in sod folder

add

b_fsnub gbfscout 0 0 64 64

and

fsnubw1 fedwireframe03 0 0 48 48
fsnubw2 fedwireframe03 48 0 48 48
fsnubw3 fedwireframe03 96 0 48 48
fsnubw4 fedwireframe03 144 0 48 48
fsnubw5 fedwireframe03 192 0 48 48

to the gui_global file.

add

fsnub.odf 1 fbase.odf // scout (snub class)

to tech1 file

add

fsnub.odf 0

to fulltech file

then place

buildItem_ = "snub"

to any fed shipyard/ base.

place the snub pic in shipimages.

go to dynamic_localized_strings and add

"FED_SNUB", "Snub Class",
"FED_SNUB_V", "This one man fighter is more annoying than dangerous.",

And your done. Next time you run A2 you can use the Snub fighter which can self-dstruct
while cloaked!

here's an idea. (not sure if it can be done) have the self destruct on them activate as soon as they are made, and give it a somewhat random timer. Then you never know what you will get. Then it will be more like playing Russian roulette with ships... But like I said, I don't know if it can be done...
