Apollo Class Apollo Class

I love the Apollo class. It's one of those ships that just fits in perfectly. The Constitution has the Miranda, the Excelsior the Centaur. And the Nebula class showed us what the ship that comes between should look like, whenever it came into the scene. However, the Apollo class --in addition to the appropriate sensor dome, or weapons pod, depending on your version of the ship-- really suits an already beautiful design, the Ambassador class.

Dan1025 gives us a really gorgeous version of the Apollo class, by way of Zero Hour. This one comes complete with all the necessaries-- a wireframe, a buildbutton, an admiral's log pic and really nice Borg textures. This one's worth a download simply because of the pedigree-- between Ash and Dan, I don't know who's the better modder, I just know they're both among the best we've ever had in this community. And to know they BOTH contributed to this mod is more than enough for me to say 'thanks'.

Download this one right away.

Cool

This is an Apollo Class starship that was going to be in Zero Hour, but the mod team leader (Ash/Transmission) has decided that it won't be included, and has asked me to hardpoint it and get it ready for release.

Included in this mod are:

SOD file
Ship textures
Borg textures
Buildbutton
Ship ODF
Wireframe
AdmiralsLog picture

Installation Instructions:

1. Place "fapollo.sod" into the Activision/Star Trek Armada II/SOD folder.
2. Place all files found in the RGB folder into the Activision/Star Trek Armada II/Textures/RGB folder.
3. Place "fapollo.odf" into the Activision/Star Trek Armada II/odf/ships folder.
4. Place the "fapollo.bmp" file found in the ShipImages folder into the Activision/Star Trek Armada II/bitmaps/AdmiralsLog/ShipImages folder.
5. Find the file named "gui_global.spr" found in the Activision/Star Trek Armada II/Sprites folder and open it (use notepad).

Search for where it says:

"Federation build buttons"

and underneath where it says:

"@reference=64"

add:

b_fapollo GBfapollo 0 0 64 64

Now search for where it says:

"Federation wireframes"

and underneath where it says:

"@reference=64"

add:

fapollow1 WFfapollo 0 0 64 64
fapollow2 WFfapollo 0 0 64 64
fapollow3 WFfapollo 0 0 64 64
fapollow4 WFfapollo 0 0 64 64
fapollow5 WFfapollo 0 0 64 64

Save and close the file.

6. Find the file named "tech1.tt" in the Activision/Star Trek Armada II/techtree folder and open it (use notepad).

Underneath where it says:

"Federation Ships"

add:

fapollo.odf 2 fyard2.odf fresear.odf

Save and close the file.

7. Find the file named "fulltech.tt" in the Activision/Star Trek Armada II/techtree folder and open it (use notepad).

At the top of the file add:

fapollo.odf 0

Save and close the file.

8. Open the name of whatever station you want to add the ship to as a buildable unit (if any).

Add at the bottom of the list of buildable items:

buildItemXX = "fapollo" (where XX is the number after the last one on the list).

Save and close the file.

That should be all you need to get the ship to work in your game :)

This one is waaaaaaay better than the one I made a year or so ago. Now I don't need to make a 2.0 Version of mine anymore.

Looks nice. I think I've seen a CG image of this Class on the net somewhere.

Pizza the Hutt: I would LOVE to see a 2.0 of your version, with the weapons pod. I still use that one in my game. These other Apollo classes are good, but they're not the weapons-pod wedge Apollo.
