6. Add

7. put sod's in the sod directory

All of this ship is from Bridge commander. i only take credit for converting it

Okay. so where to begin. Firstly, no credit to the original creator of the models. Secondly, I do wish people would check poly counts before posting these mods. Whislt these two models look nice and smooth can users be warned: Ambassador is 3370 polys and Niagra is 4062 polys. For the classifications of the ships they are way to high. Thirdly, there is little point in having very high poly models with very low detail textures.

Yes this may seem highly critical but speaking from a modder/modellers point of view these would have been better with modles around 1500 polys instead and having 512*512 pixel based textured. That way you have a better balance of looks and poly counts.

i've never been a fan of the BC ambassador textures but this isnt a bad model, shame about the polys though

i agree with you, the poly count is a little to high for a light cruiser. i put these in my game to see how they would look. i will be making new, lower poly models after my tmp mod is complete. i got these ships from bridg commander so credit goes to the makers of that (Activision).

i thought i put in the poly count. and thanks for the tip (poly - texture match), i'll start on new ones soon

right, this will be my lost post, i had a look at ms3d and played about abit, this will not be a day job it will take me time, and lots of it so i really have to make my tmp mod. as a side note i tried it i got 5 is storm 3d exploding without to much slow down but my system is quite good (128 graphics, 256 memory) so what i'll do is turn these into hero ships and release them again, that way it won't take up to much memory, i think the ent-c and the Niagara :-) i'll make it now and release it tomorrow

Beginner. Dont' sweat it. Just take your time. The longer you take the better they will look. Plus you'll be surprised how much modelling experience you'll gain from rebuilding inpart or completely these two. With the right detailed texture set you'll have a dam fine pair of releases (plus you get more satifaction from making them rather than just converting them. This I know from my own experience).

There are things i like and dislike about that Ambassador. The secondary hull looks good but the nacelles look funny. I am a SERIOUS fan of the Ambassador class though so i would love to see this one redone. And especially a Hero Enterprise C to be added. If you need any .wav files made let me know and i'll extract them from my episode of Yesterdays Enterprise. I just have to find which season it's in and pull it off for you.

finally an A2 Ambassador class ship. If i'm right this is a stock modle from BC. how do you convert Bc modles to A2 modles (SOD's)?

well, basically get ms3d, get the importer/exporter and import a nif, hardpoint and export :-)
