Saratoga Cruiser Mk. 2 (includes p81 Sovereign)
"I decided to completely redo this model."
That was the message sent in the e-mail by PtH...and how!
The textures used have been done very well and as a kitbash, it look's exceedingly good, better than some purpose built models I believe. The sheer amount of pics sent to us really emphasise the beauty of the ship and achieved in a seemingly low poly count, it is bordering on the fantastically excellent side of ship making. As an F.Y.I, this ship, as you may be able to tell, is a sort of "future" envision of the ever dependable Miranda class, a popular design among many as I'm aware.
The high's? Well, it uses P81's Sovereign (included in this pack as poly reduced, just to add) to full extent and pulls off a beautifully done design. Whilst I struggle to see the "slightly flawed wireframe", everything is there including concise installation instructions and an admiral's log picture.
The low's? You've got to download it before you get it! So, what are you waiting for....get it!!
Saratoga Class Battlecruiser (version 2.0) by Pizza the Hutt
The Saratoga Class combines the compact and efficent design of the Miranda Class with the size,
firepower and technology of the Sovereign Class. The Class was named in honor of the Miranda
Class USS Saratoga which was lost during the Battle of Wolf 365.
This is the second release of the Saratoga class. It is much more detailed now.
This model uses parts of P81's Sovereign instead of the stock model, the rollbar is made by
myself and I have improved the textures for the extendedhull from the miranda class. The ship
now has Borg textures,too.
This package also includes a (heavily poly- reduced) version of P81's Sovereign (.sod only), which
matches the Saratoga in scale and textures.
Known flaws: wireframe not perfect, damage textures not correct.
Installation:
-------------
Copy the file fbattle2.sod into the SOD folder
Copy the .tga files into the Textures > RGB folder
Copy the file fbattle2.odf into the ODF > ships folder
Copy the file fbattle2.bmp into the Bitmaps > Admiralslog folder
Open the file fyard2.odf or fyard.odf (whichever shipyard you want the ship
To be built from) and insert the line: buildItemXX = "fbattle2" under
build Parameters below the last ship to be build
XX being the next unused number
Save that file
Open "tech 1" from the Techtree folder and insert this line:
fbattle2.odf 1 fyard2.odf // Saratoga class
Save this file, open "fulltech.tt" and insert the following line
fbattle2.odf 0
Then save and open "GUI_global.spr" from the sprites folder
Then add this line under federation build buttons:
b_fbattle2 gbfbattle2 0 0 64 64
There is a wire frame, it is not perfect, but at least there is one
just add this line into the gui global under wireframes
