The Long Journey The Long Journey

The Long Journey is named because of its map. Whilst that may sound stupid, after playing it, you'll realise how much sense it really makes. TLJ is a rather large map, many times larger than that of the largest stock A2 map 'Warzone'. Whilst not the biggest on the site (we do have one that indeed pushes the 50000x50000 boundary) it may lag computers that only just meet the minimum requirements, hence the suggestion up-top that you have a computer that can more than competently play this game. Alternatively, if you can play 8-player ‘Warzone’ with no lag, be thankful that this is a 6 player map and you may get away with it.

The map itself, as already noted for being rather large, is definitely curious. Whilst the space for so many objects is not used, the intention is instead to get you to duke it out in the vastness, allowing you to conquer sections of the map. Quite like a real battle, this map is poised perfectly for to-and-fro fighting, where you'll likely be pushing each other for control of sections that really aren't too close to your base. One point I'd like to pick up on though, which would heavily draw this map out, is the point of defence. Many maps now adopt the philosophy of some sort of natural defence, usually a wormhole. The wormhole to your corner of the map though is placed in such a position, defence is made ridiculously easy. Of course, there are ways of punching through, but this would be quite a task. Combine this with the adequate, though not wholly long-lasting resources you get at the start, this map certainly has the potential to cause quite a few large skirmishes. All in all, a treat for those of you who like space.

README.txt

6long is a new 6 player map. To install, extract "6long.bmp", "6long.bzn" and "6long.txt" into the "bzn" subfolder inside the "Star Trek Aramada II" folder.

I release this map under the understanding that I am not liable for any issues it may cause. Essentially, you take your fate into your own hands, you have been warned. To ease your mind however, the map works fine for me. Also, if you use the map and/or it components in any form in a future release, this file or the contents within must be included.

If you find an issue, please let me know. Heck, if you know how to fix the issues you find, include that. I used the map editor that came with the original Star Trek Armada II release.

You can reach me via the forums at Star Trek Armada II: Fleet Operations (http://www.fleetops.net/). My username is Ntanel.

Tip: This map is meant for all out team war and it will take some time to enter enemy territory!

Thank you and ciao!

Then its sequel would not work for you either. It is nearly the same except teams have their own areas instead of a shared one. I hope it was not assumed it was a double submit and it gets approved and added as well. I will not make another map quite as large simply because people may have trouble using it. I keep forgetting my computer is a little ahead the curve.

Well my PC is pretty good, it can play Star Trek Legacy and Supreme Commander without lag but this map didn't even open up in my map editor.. so I think I'll have to pass for those two maps of yours
