Two Player Multiplayer map.

Star Trek: Avatar ¡V Preview Map:
Well, I¡¦ve been threatening for some time now so I figure it¡¦s about time I came through on it and gave you something to look at! As you may have seen on armada2files.com I am working (in conjunction with McKey) on making an Armada2 mod based on the books set after the series of Deep Space Nine. I plan to release monthly ¡¥episodes¡¦ each one based around one of the books. However I have decided to jump in and give you something to wet your appetites and here we are! Let me know what you think at sparky21c@hotmail.com all feedback is appreciated. Expect to see an assault version of this map in the next week or so (where the Cardassian and Federation Alliance bases are on your side.) However since I don¡¦t play multiplayer much I decided to do this one first.

General Information.

Okay, first things first. There is only one item in this map that I didn¡¦t create myself, and that is Deep Space Nine. This model belongs to one of two people and I am uncertain as to whom. The reason behind this is that I have two different versions on my computer at the minute both of which I run on my game and hence I no longer remember who¡¦s they are so to cover this:

Credits:
Map: Commander Clarke (Me Æ’º)
Deep Space Nine: McKey or Major A Payne.
Metal Asteroids: Unknown ¡V Came with the Earth solar system map on armada2files.com

If the author of the station, or the metal asteroids would like to e-mail me to confirm if it is theirs that I am using contact me at sparky21c@hotmail.com and I will correct this read me accordingly.

Installation.

Anyway, the fun part. Installation should be quick and simple. Simply unzip the file to your root armada directory (c:\program files\activision\star trek armada II in most cases) This should install both the map and the necessary odf¡¦s, sods etc to place Deep Space Nine on the map.

Overview.
This map is based around the environs of the Bajoran Sector. There is an AI base at either end of the wormhole, one representing the Federation alliance, and the other representing the Dominion in the Gamma Quadrant. Be warned that these bases will attack you if you come in range, regardless of which race you are playing as.

If you choose to play using fixed positions (recommended on this map) then Team One is in the lower right corner (Alpha Quadrant) and the Team Two is in the top left (Gamma Quadrant).

In the lower of the right hand quadrant I have put in a ruined Maquis base in the Badlands, you can try and colonise it if you like but it won¡¦t be easy ;)

Final Note: Whilst I realise that the second wormhole shouldn¡¦t be there if I were to follow cannon exactly I decided that the map looked a bit bear without so decided I¡¦d put one in for extra flavour!

Well people. Any comments welcome good or bad? Let me know if I should do an assault version and if so if I should change anything or leave it pretty well as it is. How well balanced are the three AI sides (the Maquis remember in the badlands). There will (probably) not be another version of this map made until I am ready to release the full mod, or at the very least, to release the assault version of the map.

Anyway this is my first file here so enjoy!

ok i think I might have to apologise. Can someone who's downloaded this please tell me if it works online or not? I've just put this map on my second computer and can't get into games online due to it reading a different version. I'm not sure but I think that one of the files contained with this map caused the problem. If anyone has this map on and can still play online please post a message here and let me know. If you can't equally let me know.

Sorry.

Don't I wish it were possible to edit comments here! Well as I said before, downloading this map prevents you from gaming online (except against those who also have the map) Anyway, it DOES NOT cause any problems playing on instant action or campaign games. Whilst I admit the inability to play online is annoying I've decided to not regard this as a bug. The reason for this is simple, this map is not intended as a stand alone release, it is to be used as part of the full mod when it is released in about a months time (fingers crossed), at which point you will only be able to play against others using the same mod.

Because of the above information this map should be regarded as the FINAL VERSION of this map. There will be no more versions of this map in this mode.

Thanks for your patience people, now enjoy.

everything works fine it think

if u want to make it game online, find the ds9 file in the odf station folder, and delete (however this will mess up the map, and possibly cause it to crash if u play)

the not allowing u to play has nothing to do with the map it self, it is simply the fact u have another file in ur odf folder, that prevents u from playing multiplayer, if u move the file temporarily while playing, it shouldnt be a problem :D

Really? Damn! I didn't realise A2 was that sensitive! I assumed it just checked the files it was using and looked at them. I didn't think it would do a file count!!! Cool, thanks Voyager009, by the way, what did you think to the map? I know you're a big Voyager fan (duh!) but i have an equal passion for Deep Space Nine and thought I'd try this....by the way I will be posting a replacment ODF for Ds9 soon (I'm still ignoring the whole online issues) It will make it so that DS9 can be used as a trading station!!!

DOWNLOAD NOW!!!! :borg:
